IBM enhances Watson Discovery's natural language processing

#artificialintelligence

IBM has announced enhancements to the natural language processing (NLP) capabilities of Watson Discovery. Watson Discovery is an AI-powered intelligent search and text-analytics platform that can retrieve critical information buried in enterprise data. In one case study, Woodside Energy had no way to retrieve the 30 years' worth of valuable engineering and drilling knowledge that was buried in unstructured documentation. Using the existing NLP capabilities of Watson Discovery, the firm reportedly cut research time by more than 75 percent. "The stream of innovation coming to IBM Watson from IBM Research is why global businesses in the fields of financial services, insurance, and legal services turn to IBM to help detect emerging business trends, gain operational efficiency and empower their workers to uncover new insights," said Daniel Hernandez, General Manager of Data and AI, IBM.

Build a virtual insurance assistant to help process claims

#artificialintelligence

This code pattern explains how to create a platform to help insurance agents process claims. We use IBM Watson natural language processing capabilities to understand, classify, and retrieve information to reduce repetitive tasks. In turn, this allows the agent to tackle more creative and complex problems, and most customers receive answers to their questions faster with the help of a Watson-based virtual assistant. We create the virtual insurance assistant using Node.js and Watson Assistant. The assistant uses Watson Discovery to answer policy questions.

An introduction to Watson natural language processing

#artificialintelligence

This article is part of the Get started with natural language processing learning path. As shown in the previous demo, with IBM Watson natural language processing features, you can efficiently analyze and parse large amounts of text input to produce actionable insights. Give Watson a URL or a popular news site, and Watson is able to ingest text from the site and analyze it within seconds, much faster than a human. The text is analyzed by categories, concepts, emotions, entities, relations, sentiments, and more, all of which you can customize. The information extracted from this service enables you to find more meaning in text, understand trends, and recommend similar content from large amounts of data.

Improve Your Sales & Product with this AI Pattern

#artificialintelligence

Many organizations struggle with both identifying and prioritizing what sales leads to pursue. Where do you start when you have a large stack of leads to go through? What do you when your leads have gone cold? For Product Leaders, it's often a challenge to get a broad spectrum of feedback from their customers. How do they know where to focus next?

US Open won't have spectators, but it will have IBM's AI and hybrid cloud

#artificialintelligence

Fans can become instant "experts" about the players and the tournament match-ups with new AI-powered insights. This year, IBM is partnering again with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and has developed three new tennis-based digital experiences for fans of the US Open. Spectators won't be allowed at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY when the Grand Slam event begins on Aug. 31, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they will be able to participate remotely with new fan experiences that use artificial intelligence (AI) underpinned by hybrid cloud technologies. IBM has partnered with the USTA for 29 years, but 2018 was the first year that AI-powered tools were used by players and coaches. Last year, IBM introduced the IBM Coach Advisor and IBM Watson OpenScale.

IBM's Watson Advances, Able To Understand The Language Of Business - Express Computer

#artificialintelligence

IBM is announcing several new IBM Watson technologies designed to help organizations begin identifying, understanding and analyzing some of the most challenging aspects of the English language with greater clarity, for greater insights. The new technologies represent the first commercialization of key Natural Language Processing (NLP) capabilities to come from IBM Research's Project Debater, the only AI system capable of debating humans on complex topics. For example, a new advanced sentiment analysis feature is defined to identify and analyze idioms and colloquialisms for the first time. Phrases, like'hardly helpful,' or'hot under the collar,' have been challenging for AI systems because they are difficult for algorithms to spot. With advanced sentiment analysis, businesses can begin analyzing such language data with Watson APIs for a more holistic understanding of their operation.

The Grammys go high-tech with IBM and artificial intelligence

Along with Versace and Jean Paul Gaultier, artificial intelligence and Natural Language Processing will be important accessories on the 62nd Annual Grammys' red carpet. IBM will enhance the red carpet livestream with Grammy Insights with Watson this Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The team at IBM took over 18 million documents and data sources on this year's Grammy nominees and distilled them down to the most interesting nuggets about each of the artists to create a modern day version of the 90s' "Pop Up Video." When an artist is on the red carpet, that's when the artificial intelligence (AI) will kick in. This includes Lizzo, who has eight nominations, Lil Nas X with six nominations, and Billie Eilish with nominations in the top four categories, according to CBS News.

IBM Watson: Reflections and Projections - THINK Blog

#artificialintelligence

AI has gone through many cycles since we first coined the term "machine learning" in 1959. Our latest resurgence began in 2011 when we put Watson on national television to play Jeopardy! This became a cornerstone event, demonstrating that we had something unique. And we saw early success, putting Watson to work on projects with clients. This created even more excitement. That excitement led to more opportunity.
